About Kasey
For more than 25 years, music has been both my profession and my ongoing education. What continues to interest me most is the process of becoming a better musician—and helping other people do the same.
I hold bachelor's and master's degrees in classical guitar performance and spent nearly 20 years working professionally as a guitarist in Las Vegas, performing at many of the city's major resorts and venues. My performing experience has ranged from classical and acoustic music to contemporary styles, commercial productions and theater, including work as a guitarist for the national touring production of “Matilda the Musical” during its Las Vegas engagement at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts.
Alongside performing, I've taught private students and college-level music courses for more than two decades. I've worked with everyone from complete beginners to experienced musicians, and with students whose goals range from simply enjoying music at home to developing serious technical and performance skills.
Although classical guitar was the foundation of my training, my musical interests have always been much broader. I work across acoustic and electric guitar, fingerstyle and pick technique, rock, pop, jazz, Brazilian music, improvisation, theory and ensemble playing. I believe that good musicianship transcends style.
Most importantly, I still consider myself a student. I'm continually practicing, exploring new approaches and expanding my own musicianship. That ongoing curiosity is a big of what I bring to my teaching.
